Human Remains Found In Goderich

(GODERICH, ON) – The construction of a backyard patio has been put on hold for a Goderich homeowner following the discovery of human remains.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a property located on St. George’s Crescent in Goderich after learning a construction crew had located human remains.

Investigators have since learned a portion of the backyard had been excavated in January of this year to get the jobsite ready for spring construction. The construction crew returned yesterday to commence building the patio when they discovered a partial human skull in the excavated soil.

Members from the Huron County Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and a Forensic Anthropologist from the Office of the Chief Coroner currently remain on scene.

Investigators are in the early stages of this investigation. The remains have been confirmed as human; however, no further information is available at this time.

Should further information become available police will provide an updated media release.
