(Elgin County) – Police and the Ontario Fire Marshalls Office have deemed the fire that destroyed a Rodney home on Sunday as suspicious in nature. The fire which occurred in the early morning hours of July 28, 2013 caused over $200 000 in damages. The rental property residence had been vacant for a couple of weeks; no one was injured in the fire.
Police continue to investigate the incident as arson.
Police are seeking the public’s assistance and asking that anyone that may have information regarding this investigation call the Elgin OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.

Original Release Dated 29 Jul 13 -Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Ontario Fire Marshalls Office continue to investigate a blaze that completely destroyed a house on Harper Street, Rodney, ON.
The fire occurred on July 28, 2013 around 5:12am when neighbours observed smoke billowing from the residence. West Elgin Fire battled the fire until it was extinguished at approximately 2pm.
No one was injured in the incident and the residence, which had been a rental property, had been vacant for the past several weeks.
Damages and losses are estimated at $200 000.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time, the investigation is continuing.
