House Flips On Hwy 23 Closing Road For Four Hours

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Monday February 29, 2016, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to Hwy 23 between Line 71 and Perth Line 72 (south of Atwood), in response to a house flipped on its side across the road.

Investigation revealed that a transport truck towing a modular house trailer was travelling southbound on Hwy 23 when a strong gust of wind caused the trailer to flip over. The house trailer came to rest across both lanes of the highway. The force ripped the hitch from the trailer, however the truck remained upright. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The highway department barricaded the highway at Line 71 to the south and Perth Line 72 to the north allowing tow and recovery companies to safely clear the roadway. The highway was re-opened at 8:45 p.m. The house trailer sustained extensive damage.
