HOPPER – Drunk Driving, Hit and Run

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – On March 6, 2016, at approximately 1:32 a.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were parked on the west side of Main Street, near McKellar Street, dealing with an individual in the rear seat of the police vehicle.

The officer was standing next to the rear driver’s side door of the police vehicle when a red Chevrolet car struck the cruiser. The officer jumped out of the way and was struck on the arm by the Chevrolet’s passenger side mirror. The officer did not require medical attention.

The Chevrolet failed to stop at the scene, and proceeded south on Main Street and west on McKellar Street, where it was stopped by police in a parking lot.

Officers determined the female driver had been drinking alcohol. She was placed under arrest, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath testing.

As a result of the police investigation, 41-year-old Jenny HOPPER, from Newbury, Ontario, has been charged with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, and fail to stop at scene of accident, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA) and is scheduled to answer the charges in a London court on May 3, 2016.
