Homeowner Confronts Break And Enter Suspect

(Selwyn Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residence on 7th Line of Selwyn near East Communication Road just after 9:30am this morning.

The homeowner was working in the yard and came inside for a break. He heard footsteps inside his house and noticed a female leaving out the back door. The homeowner confronted the female in the laneway and described her as follows:

· Female in her fifties

· 5’5” heavy build

· Dark blue matching top and pants

· Black toque with a white stripe

· Spoke with an accent (possibly eastern European)

The suspect did manage to take cash from the victim’s wallet before leaving. The suspect appeared calm and was in no hurry leaving the victim’s house.

Members of the Peterborough County OPP are actively looking for information that may lead to a suspect or suspect(s) in this case. Police urge the public to call in tips on this case, or others, to the non-emergency line (888) 310-1122 or to Crime Stoppers.
