(CRAMAHE TOWNSHIP, ON) – A motorist travelling on Highway 401 at a high rate of speed had the unfortunate occasion to be observed by a Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on regular patrol duties on Thursday November 21, 2013.
The officer observed the 2009 silver Mitsubishi with a Quebec licence plate travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on Highway 401 from County Road 30 in the Municipality of Brighton as the officer was entering onto the 401 at approximately 8:40 pm. The officer followed the vehicle for several miles and observed several lane changes in and out of traffic. The officer observed speeds of 120 km to 140 km in the 100 km zone. The vehicle failed to indicate a lane change and was stopped on the 401 at County Road 25 in Cramahe Township.
The officer conducted in to an investigation into the lone male occupant and found that he was unable to provide the required documents for the vehicle. The male admitted to the officer that his Ontario driver’s licence had been suspended and requested that he be able to drive back to Quebec.
Jihad, Faheem SABREE, 36 from Brampton, Ontario has been charged with driving under suspension and failing to signal lane change under the Highway Traffic Act. The accused was served summonses for both offences to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Brighton, Ontario on Thursday December 12, 2013. The vehicle was towed from the location to be retrieved by a properly licenced driver.
