(PORT HOPE, ON) – Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently on scene of two collisions on the east bound lanes of Highway 401 east of Wesleyville Road west of Port Hope, Ontario.
Both eastbound lanes are presently closed to motorists and are being asked to detour at Wesleyville Road (exit 456). Two tractor trailers and a pick-up truck collided first and as a result of the rising morning sun, a second collision occurred at the same location involving a truck with a camper. Port Hope Fire Department (PHFD) and Northumberland Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are also on scene. Extent of any injuries remains unknown at this time.
OPP are investigating and further details will be provided to advise once the highway is open. It is expected to remain closed for several hours for investigation purposes.
