Heroes Youth Camp

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – Yesterday marked the end of the 1st Heroes Youth Camp. Thirteen local Quinte West youth were chosen to take part in the camp by entering a written submission to the Quinte West OPP showcasing their community involvement. During the four day camp, the youth were introduced to local first responders from the Quinte West OPP, Quinte West Firefighters, Hastings County EMS staff and Military Police. The youth participated in First Responder related team building and leadership activities. The camp ended yesterday with a BBQ provided by Smylies Independent Grocers and a fishing derby in the afternoon. The youth and their families were treated to a ride in the OPP’s new 21ft Boston Whaler marine vessel. The camp was considered a huge success by all that attended and participated. The organization of next year’s camp is already underway. A special thanks to all the volunteers who organized and helped out with the camp.
