Hero Trampled By Horses After Saving 3 Year Old

(Tweed, ON) – On July 9th 2016, police were called to the Tweed Fairgrounds in response to a 51 year old Madoc man being trampled by a team of horses.

At approximately 12:00pm, a team of horses getting ready for an event at the Tweed fairgrounds got away from their handlers while being prepared. The horses left the track and went into an area that contained pedestrians and onlookers.

The 51 year old man observed the loose team heading towards a family with children. He moved a 3year old girl out of the path of the running horses. As a result of his actions he was trampled by the horses. He was conscience and transported to Kingston General Hospital where is was later released with minor injuries to his face.

The team of horses were competing at an event in the fair and are local to the area.

No one else sustained any injuries.

There is no further police investigation.
