(Madoc, ON) – On July 22, 2015 at 10:40 a.m. members of Central Hastings OPP responded to a 9-1-1 call on Moira Lake in the Municipality of Centre Hastings after a resident on the shore of Christie Lane reported a small aluminium boat was repetitively circling in the lake. Upon further inspection the complaint and his wife observed the male operator was unresponsive and slumped over the side of his boat.
After requesting emergency services the couple ventured out on the lake in their own vessel. When multiple attempts to stop the circling boat were unsuccessful the couple attended the boat launch where they picked up members of Centre Hastings Fire Department.The couple and five firefighters then returned to the boat where they were able to offer assistance to the operator who was experiencing a medical episode.The 52 year old man of Belleville, ON was subsequently transported to hospital by EMS.
Central Hastings OPP would like to acknowledge the quick and thorough response of the two civilians in coming to the aid of the vessel operator.
