Hero Follows Drunk Driver, Takes Keys And Blocks Vehicle Until Police Arrive

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – On December 3, 2016 at approximately 8:20 p.m., an alert motorist contacted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report an erratic driver travelling on Essex County Road 18 in the municipality of Leamington, Ontario.

The suspect vehicle was described as a red Dodge van and the caller continued to follow the vehicle, until it came to a stop in a parking lot on the 4th Concession. The keys were taken from the driver by the caller and the vehicle was blocked in until police arrived.

The driver of the vehicle exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested by police.

Peter REDEKOP, age 34 of Leamington, Ontario, will appear in a Leamington court on January 5, 2017 to answer to charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle, Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol.
