(HOWICK, ON) – A Hamilton resident is facing a total of thirteen criminal charges stemming from a stolen vehicle occurrence in Wroxeter.
Just after 9:00 p.m. on November 23, 2021 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to attend Mill Street in Wroxeter for a theft of a pickup truck in progress. On the way to the call officers learned the owner of the pickup truck gave chase and had followed the suspect a short distance before the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
A Huron OPP officer arrived on scene and began patrolling for the suspect. Shortly after, the suspect was observed and was placed under arrest and taken into custody. A search incident to arrest revealed the accused was in possession of break-in tools, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, a stolen licence plate and a stolen driver’s licence. Further checks on the accused revealed he was prohibited from driving, as well he was found to be failing to comply with conditions of a court release order.
Michael LIPSETT, 30 years of age, from Hamilton has been charged with:
- Theft of Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession of Break-in Tools
- Fail to Comply with Release Conditions – 4 counts
- Drive a Motor Vehicle While Prohibited – 4 counts
- Possession of Stolen Property – 2 counts
The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 22, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
