At 9:55 p.m. last night, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Charing Cross Road south of the 401. A woman was travelling southbound when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree. Through investigation, the officer believed that the woman had consumed alcohol and a roadside breath test was administered. The woman failed and was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $6000.
Heather Clayton, 39 years, of Merritt Avenue in Chatham has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She has been released pending a future court date.
