Incident #: WA16232331

Incident Date: Oct 20, 2016

Location: BLAIR RD and MEADOWCREEK LANE, CAMBRIDGE ON Canada

On October 20, 2016, Waterloo Regional Police responded to a collision between a vehicle and a school bus on Blair Road in Cambridge. A 48-year-old Cambridge woman was driving her 2010 Jeep Patriot south along Blair Road. At the same time, a 65-year-old Kitchener man was driving a 2015 full sized school bus north along Blair Road. The white jeep crossed the centre line into the north bound lane and the two vehicles collided head on. The school bus left the roadway to its right and entered into the ditch where it came to rest with considerable front end damage. The driver was taken to Cambridge Memorial with minor injuries. There were no passengers on the bus. The white Jeep was propelled backwards from the impact and after spinning around came to rest in the west ditch. The driver, with the assistance of the Cambridge Fire Department and Region of Waterloo Paramedics, was removed from the vehicle and taken to Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She was later transferred to Hamilton General Hospital with life threatening injuries. At the time of the collision it was raining and the roads were wet. However, the weather conditions were not a factor in this collision. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police at 519-653-7700.
