Head On Collision – Highway 9 Closed

(CALEDON, ON) – On July 20th, 2015 at 5:30 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Caledon Fire Service and EMS were called to investigate a head on collision which occurred on Highway 9 between Airport Road and Humber Station Road.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of a westbound Chevrolet crossed the centre line and struck the occupants of an eastbound Pontiac. The two occupants and the driver from the Chevrolet and the one occupant and the driver from the Pontiac were extricated and transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet was later transported to a trauma centre and remains in critical condition. The driver of the Pontiac remains in stable condition.

Highway 9 remained closed until 11:00 pm while OPP Technical Traffic Investigators conducted their investigation.

The investigation is still on-going.
