BREAK AND ENTER INCIDENTS

(Hawkesbury, ON) The Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a break-in that occurred on Tuesday March 17th at a Mary Street residence in Hawkesbury.

Constable Bradley Giroux investigated the daytime crime.

The investigation revealed that a white tall man, well dressed, wearing dark winter clothing, in his late 20’s, entered the single residential home by breaking in through a side door. The resident was present and spooked the “would be” thief who ran away, up the street, toward Aberdeen street.

Nothing was stolen from the residence.

The Hawkesbury OPP Canine Unit, the Emergency Response Team and OPP Identification Unit assisted in the investigation.

Police went on the track of the fugitive to no avail.

The matter is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about this matter is asked to contact Constable Bradley Giroux at the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment at 613-632-2729 or 1-888-310-1122.

The complainant informed police that someone broke into his apartment and stole various electronics such as a computer, computer accessories, various compact discs, a Playstation 3 console and games, a television and Mastercraft power tools.

The matter is under investigation.

Anyone with information about this matter is asked to contact Constable Steve Roy at the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment at 613-632-2729 or 1-888-310-1122.

DAYTIME BREAK-INS

(Hawkesbury, ON) The Hawkesbury OPP wishes to remind the community to secure their properties all hours of the day. Some will go through great lengths to secure their properties at night but it is as imperative to do so during the daytime.

It was noted lately, the majority of reported break-ins were done during the day throughout Prescott County. More precisely, since the beginning of 2015, 80% of reported break and enters (B&Es) were executed during daytime.

Thieves have been targeting electronics in almost 40% of the investigated incidents.

There has not been a trend in the execution nor location of the B&Es. They have been reported all over the County.

“The vast majority of targets were residences where the access was made via secured doors and windows” says Inspector Bryan MacKillop, Detachment Commander.

The Hawkesbury OPP Detachment is working hard to ensure the safety of our citizens with directed patrols and efforts to reduce victimization. Nevertheless, residents are asked to do their part in securing their properties and watching over neighbour’s residences.

If anyone suspects any criminal activity or bizarre behavior, they are encouraged to call it in. Example of these activities are such as unknown persons going door to door, asking for someone who does not reside at the residence or offering unsolicited services.

When reporting something suspicious, police advise to attempt to get the most information from the person such as description, type of vehicle, licence plate, direction of travel, etc.
