In the week of September 28th to October 05th, Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to 135 occurrences. Six break and enter incidents were reported. One incident of assault and one incident of theft were reported. In the last week, officers investigated two impaired driving related incidents. Out of these 135 occurrences, 19 concluded with charges.
ARREST DURING EXECUTION OF WARRANT
(Hawkesbury, ON) – On September 28th, 2015, members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) – Hawkesbury Community Drug Action Team, Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Hawkesbury Crime Unit executed a Search Warrant in the town of Hawkesbury, resulting in the seizure of cannabis marijuana and cannabis resin.
Eric CUERRIER (23 yrs) and Sabrina LEGAULT (18 yrs) of Hawkesbury were arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following sections:
– 5(2) Possession of a Schedule II (Cannabis marijuana) substance for the
purpose of trafficking
– 5(2) Possession of a Schedule II (Cannabis resin) substance for
the purpose of trafficking
Both accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal, on November 4th 2015.
IMPAIRED DRIVERS
(Alfred-Plantagenet, ON) – In the night of September 29th, at 1:20 am, Hawkesbury OPP officers, Simon Boudreau and Bradley Giroux intercepted a motorcycle; a 1977 black Harley Davidson on County Road 2 in Alfred-Plantagenet.
The traffic stop revealed that the driver was suspended from driving in the Province of Ontario. Investigation also revealed that the motorcycle had altered and unauthorized licence plate.
Interaction with the male driver gave the officers reason to believe that he was driving his motorcycle while having blood alcohol content over the legal limit. He was asked to provide a breath sample which he refused.
Further investigation revealed that the driver was in breach of three of his conditions.
The driver was not able to provide a proof of insurance for the motorcycle.
Consequently, the driver, Salvador LAURIN (48 yrs) of Ottawa, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:
– 254(5) Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample -alcohol/blood
– 145(3) Fail to Comply with Recognizance (x 3)
He was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following sections:
– 12(1)(a) Alter plate
– 53(1) Driving while under suspension (x 3)
– 32(1) Drive motor vehicle – improper licence
Lastly, he was charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with section
– 2(1)(a) Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
His motorcycle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
He was not released and kept for a bail hearing scheduled later that day on September 29th, 2015 in L’Orignal.

(Alfred-Plantagenet, ON) – On Tuesday evening September 29 th at approximately 8:25 pm, Hawkesbury OPP officers received a complaint about a motor vehicle collision, hit and run on County Road 4 near County Road 17 in Champlain.
The suspect was driving dangerously and travelling at an excessively high rate of speed. Police were able to intercept the suspicious vehicle on County Road 17 near Peladeau Road in the Alfred-Plantagenet Township.
Consequently, the driver, Gaston CADIEUX (32 yrs) of Lefaivre was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:
– 249(1)(a) Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
– 252 Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident
Cannabis Marijuana, Cannabis Resin and Cocaine were found in his vehicle and on his person. He was consequently charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following sections:
– 4(1) Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams (x 2)
– 4(1) Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Resin – over
1gram
– 4(1) Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
The investigation also revealed that the motor vehicle driven by the accused was reported stolen.
Consequently, the accused was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section:
– 354(1)(a) Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
He was not released and kept for a bail hearing scheduled the next day on September 30th, 2015 at L’Orignal court.
BREAK AND ENTER
(Hawkesbury, ON) – The Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a break and enter that occurred in a garage/shed situated on Chamberlain Street in Hawkesbury.
It is believed that the break-in occurred sometime between September 27th and October 01st, 2015. The investigation would suggest that someone entered the garage by breaking in through the side door.
The following items were taken from the garage:

– Mitre Saw
– Skill saw
