Hawkesbury Police Press Releases

THIS WEEK IN POLICING

In the week of October 12th to October 19th, Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to 143 occurrences. Two break and enter incidents were reported. Three incidents of assault and six incidents of theft were reported. In the last week, officers did not investigate any impaired driving related incidents. Out of these 143 occurrences, 16 concluded with charges.

SUSPENDED DRIVER

(ALFRED-PLANTAGENET, ON) – On Wednesday October 14th, at approximately 10:30 am, while on patrol on Concession 1 in the Lefaivre area, OPP Constable Simon Boudreau intercepted a 2003 blue Honda Civic. Investigation revealed that the driver was suspended from driving and the vehicle was not insured.

Katherine HAYES (23 yrs) of Lefaivre was charged with section 53(1) of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act for Driving while under suspension.

She was also charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with the following offence:

– 2(1)(a) Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance

The set minimum fine for driving without insurance is $5000.

She was served two summons to appear at the L’Orignal Court on November 12th 2015.

ASSAULT ON A 12-YEAR-OLD

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – The Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an assault incident on a 12-year-old that occurred on Thursday October 15th shortly before 3:00 pm, at the Hawkesbury General Hospital.

The elderly male suspect approached a 12-year-old female asking if her mother was with her. He then grabbed her left forearm, tugged on it and told her to come and sit with him. The visibly disturbed female came to the attention of other persons in the waiting room who told the suspect to leave her alone. The suspect then left the hospital.

The OPP needs the assistance of the public to identify this elderly male suspect.

He is described as:

· White male,

· Possibly around 80 years old,

· English speaking,

· Grey hair,

· Was wearing baggy jeans, dark shoes, a royal blue windbreaker jacket, a grey shirt and a royal blue ball cap with a Hawkesbury Hawks” or “Toronto Blue Jays” logo on it
