In the weeks of January 11th to January 25th, Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to 301 occurrences. Four break and enter incidents were reported. Six incidents of assault and eight incidents of theft were reported. In the last week, officers investigated one impaired driving related incident. Out of these 301 occurrences, 47 concluded with charges.
THIEF OF BOAT, MOTOR AND TRAILER STILL ACTIVE IN LEFAIVRE AREA
(ALFRED-PLANTAGENET, ON) – The Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a theft of boat and trailer that occurred sometime overnight on January 12th and 13th at a residence situated on Concession Road 1 in Treadwell / Lefaivre area in the Alfred-Plantagenet Township.
The 15 foot Springbox aluminum boat and a grey 2003 homemade trailer were stored outside beside a shed.

(ALFRED-PLANTAGENET, ON) – Constable Mike Roy of the Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a theft of an outboard motor that was reported on Tuesday January 12th. The investigation revealed that a black Mercury 18 horsepower outboard motor – valued at approximately 1000$ was stolen off a boat parked on a vacant lot across from the owner’s property. The property is situated on Concession Road 1 in the Alfred-Plantagenet Township.

(ALFRED-PLANTAGENET, ON) – The Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a theft of a utility trailer that occurred overnight on January 14th and 15th at a residential property on Concession Road 1 in the Alfred-Plantagenet Township.
The following items were stolen;
– 2007 black Maxi utility trailer
– Set of four 17 inch Yokohama tires mounted on mags for Mazda CX5
– Set of four 17 inch Goodyear tires mounted on mags
– ATV ramps
– Large red leather tarp
The matter is still under investigation.

IMPAIRED DRIVER
(ALFRED-PLANTAGENET, ON) – On Saturday January 16th, shortly after 5:30pm, Hawkesbury OPP Constable Stephanie Fortin-Provost intercepted a 2008 grey Nissan Sentra on Old Highway 17 in Plantagenet.
Interaction with the male driver gave the officer reason to believe that he had operated his motor vehicle with blood alcohol content over 80 mgs.
Consequently, the driver, Jonathan CAMERON (29 yrs) of Plantagenet, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following section:
– 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.
The vehicle was seized for 7 days and the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days.
He was later released and scheduled to appear at court on February 03rd, 2016 in L’Orignal.
BREAK AND ENTER AT LOCAL STORE
(HAWKESBURY, ON) – The Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a break and enter that occurred at night on Monday January 18th shortly after 1am, at the Maximum Power Sports store situated on Tupper Street in Hawkesbury.
Culprits gained access to the store by breaking the front glass door. Once inside, they smashed a glass counter stealing several sunglasses, goggles of various brands, helmet’s communication devices and helmet cams. The thieves also stole numerous snowmobile accessories such as; jackets, pants, gloves, mitts, of various brands.
The Hawkesbury OPP is seeking the assistance of the public to report any information relating to individuals selling or attempting to sell brand new equipment to snowmobilers.
Some of the stolen brands were;
TEAM FX, Backshift Pro, Absolute Trail, Adrenaline jackets
TEAM FX and Vertical Pro pants
Aviator goggles and lens

SHOPLIFT AT LCBO – SUSPECT CAUGHT
(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On Saturday January 23rd, shortly before 5:30pm, the Hawkesbury OPP was called to the LCBO store on Main Street East in Hawkesbury for a shoplifting incident. A male was seen shoplifting and leaving the store with three concealed 60 ounce bottles of liquor.
The thief was identified by police from the surveillance tape. He was later arrested when attending L’Orignal court for unrelated matter.
Jean-Rene ST-AMOUR (33 yrs) of L’Orignal was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following section:
– 334(b) Theft Under $5000
He was kept for a court appearance the following day.
THEFT – SUSPECT NABBED IN ACTION
(HAWKESBURY, ON) – In the night of January 25th, shortly before 1:30am, the Hawkesbury OPP was called to a suspicious male walking on Spence Avenue in Hawkesbury, pushing a wheelbarrow containing four propane tanks.
Police attended and located the suspect. Investigation revealed that the suspect had just been trespassing on several properties on Spence Avenue, stealing the wheelbarrow and propane tanks from backyards.
Maxime PLOUFFE-VILLENEUVE (20 yrs) of Nation was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following section:
– 334(b) Theft Under $5000 (2 counts)
All recovered stolen property has been returned to their rightful owners.
He was later released and scheduled to appear at court on February 24th, 2016 in L’Orignal.
