PROTECT YOURSELF FROM FRAUD
Calls are continuing from fraudsters attempting to trick people into forwarding funds. The most common fraud currently circulating are callers pretending to be from the Canada Revenue Agency. If you receive a call and suspect it to be a fraudster contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501. The Canada Revenue Agency does not call taxpayers and demand payment. They do not have the authority to send the police to arrest you, which is one claim the fraudsters make in attempts to intimidate you. Protect yourself from phone frauds. Don’t give personal information over the phone, don’t allow people to have access to your computer, and don’t provide banking or credit card information to callers. The best protection from phone fraud…just hang up! For more information on types of frauds, visit the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre website at www.antifraudcentre.ca .
