In the week of February 15th to February 29th, Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to 274 occurrences. Four break and enter incidents were reported. Six incidents of assault and six incidents of theft were reported. In the last two weeks, officers investigated two impaired driving related incidents. Out of these 274 occurrences, 36 concluded with charges.
DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS
Hawkesbury OPP officers responded to 12 domestic disputes during the past two weeks. One male was charged with assault and two counts of mischief; one male was charged with break & enter and mischief; one male was charged with assault; one male was charged with assault, uttering threats and four counts of fail to comply with Recognizance; one young male was charged with two counts of assault; and one female was charged with assault and mischief.
SUSPECT TO BE IDENTIFIED
(HAWKESBURY, ON) – The Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a shoplifting that occurred on Sunday February 14th shortly before 12:30pm at the Canadian Tire store situated on Cameron Street in Hawkesbury.
Investigation revealed that a male was observed stealing from the store.
A photo of the suspect was taken as he was leaving. Police were not able to identify the suspect on the photo and are asking for your help. (See photo)

BREAK AND ENTER
(HAWKESBURY, ON) – Constable Pascal David of the Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a break and enter incident that occurred overnight on February 16th and 17th at a residence situated on Prospect Street in Hawkesbury.
The investigation would suggest that someone entered the residence by breaking in through the back door.
A 50 inch LG plasma television, a 30 inch computer screen, a Fender bass and Fender amplifier as well as an Apple MacBook Pro laptop were stolen.
The matter is still under investigation.

IMPAIRED DRIVERS
(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On Saturday evening, February 20th, just after 11:30pm, Hawkesbury OPP officers Mike Roy and Pascal Boudreau were on patrol when they intercepted a 1998 green GMC Sonata pickup truck on Main Street East in Hawkesbury.
Interaction with the male driver gave the officer reason to believe that he had his abilities to drive a motor vehicle impaired by alcohol.
Consequently, the driver, Daniel, Gerald LAPRADE (47 yrs) of Cartier Boulevard in Hawkesbury, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:
– 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired- motor vehicle (Alcohol)
– 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.
The vehicle was seized for 7 days and the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days.
He was later released and scheduled to appear at court on March 09th, 2016 in L’Orignal.

“DRIVING-THRU” IMPAIRED
(HAWKESBURY, ON) – In the evening of Sunday February 21st, shortly after 11:00pm, Hawkesbury OPP officers Pascal Boudreau and Mike Roy responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision that occurred in the drive-thru lane of the McDonald’s Restaurant in Hawkesbury.
The investigation revealed that a 2015 black Honda Civic had struck the rear of a vehicle stopped in front in the drive-thru lane.
Interaction with the male driver gave the officer reason to believe that he had his abilities to drive a motor vehicle impaired by alcohol.
Consequently, the driver, Raymond FOX (25 yrs) of Concession 10 in Grenville-Sur-La-Rouge, Quebec, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:
– 253(1)(a) Driving While Ability Impaired- motor vehicle (Alcohol)
– 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.
The vehicle was seized for 7 days and the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days.

SHOPLIFTER ARRESTED
(HAWKESBURY, ON) – A shoplifter was arrested on Monday afternoon February 22nd when stealing liquor bottles for a third time in three consecutive days at the LCBO store on Main Street in Hawkesbury.
Hawkesbury OPP officers Erin Bouchard and Dominique Sauve arrived on scene and caught the male suspect red-handed while attempting to leave the store with unpaid bottles. The officers were then informed of two previous theft incidents that occurred within the last two days. The shoplifter was seen on Saturday February 20th shortly prior to 12:30pm leaving the LCBO store with four bottles of Vodka concealed in his bag. The same male returned the next day on February 21st, roughly at same time, stealing once again four bottles of liquor.
Investigation revealed the shoplifter was on Probation Order and was in breach of his conditions.
Martin BRABANT (32 yrs) of Champlain Township was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following section:
– 334(b) Theft Under $5000 (3 counts)
– 733.1(1) Fail to Comply with Probation Order (18 counts)
He was not released and is scheduled to appear at court on March 29th, 2016 in L’Orignal.
THEFT OF WOOD SPLITTER
(NATION, ON) The Hawkesbury OPP needs your help in solving a theft of a wood splitter that occurred sometime between Tuesday February 23rd and Sunday February 28th.
A 2014 Cord-King wood splitter, yellow-green-orange in color was stolen from the victim’s property on Concession Road 1 in Nation.
