Hawkesbury Police Press Releases

In the week of March 07th to March 14th, Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to 128 occurrences. Four break and enter incidents were reported. Two incidents of assault and three incidents of theft were reported. In the last week, officers did not investigate any impaired driving related incidents. Out of these 128 occurrences, 18 concluded with charges.

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION ON HWY 34

(CHAMPLAIN, ON) – On Monday March 07th, at 3:00 pm, the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment responded to a motor vehicles collision on Highway 34, north of Pleasant Corner Road in Champlain Township.

The investigation revealed that a 2005 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 16-year-old male of Hawkesbury, which was heading southbound on Highway 34, would have veered into the northbound lane and violently collided with a 2012 Honda Odyssey van.

The occupants of the Odyssey van and the driver of the Corolla were all transported to the Hawkesbury General Hospital for minor injuries. The 45-year-old female passenger of the Corolla sustained more serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in Ottawa.

The 16-year-old driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act.

MOTORCYCLISTS INJURED IN COLLISION

(EAST HAWKESBURY, ON) – A young motorcyclist and his passenger were injured when their motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Labrosse Street in St-Eugene yesterday afternoon.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:00 pm on Monday evening March 07th on Labrosse Street in St-Eugene, between County Road 14 and Fatima Street.

An investigation by the Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) revealed that a Yamaha trail bike was eastbound on Labrosse Street traveling at high speed, when it collided with a red Mazda3 vehicle heading westbound and making a left turn into a private driveway. The trail bike, driven by a17-year-old male, was not equipped with any lights and was not classified as a road motorcycle. The driver was wearing a helmet but the 17-years-old male passenger wasn’t.

The East Hawkesbury Fire Department and Prescott-Russell Paramedic were also at scene. Both males were transported to the Hawkesbury General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries but were both later transferred to a hospital in Ottawa for more severe injuries. The driver of the red Mazda3 was not injured.

Consequently, the 17-year-old motorcycle driver of St-Eugene, was charged for numerous infractions under the Highway Traffic Act.

BREAK AND ENTER

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On Tuesday evening March 08th, Hawkesbury OPP officers were called to investigate a break and enter that occurred sometime within the past week while the owner was away on vacation. The investigation revealed that someone entered the residence situated on Stanley Street in Hawkesbury by breaking a basement window.

Three black PS4 consoles and controllers were stolen including the following games; Grand Theft Auto and NHL2016. A 32 inch flat screen television was also taken.

THEFT OF BOAT MOTOR

(ALFRED-PLANTAGENET, ON) – The Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a theft of an outboard boat motor that occurred at a property situated on Principale Street in Wendover.

The motor, a 1986 Evinrude 30hp, light blue in color was attached to a boat parked behind a garage.
