Hawkesbury Police Press Releases

In the weeks of March 14th to March 28th, Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to 244 occurrences. Seven break and enter incidents were reported. One incident of assault and five incidents of theft were reported. In the last two weeks, officers investigated one impaired driving related incident. Out of these 244 occurrences, 43 concluded with charges.

DOMESTIC INVESTIGATIONS

Hawkesbury OPP officers responded to 20 domestic disputes during the past two weeks. One female was charged with defamation and publication of an intimate image without consent; one female was charged with assault and uttering threats; one male was charged with fail to comply with Undertaking; one male was charged with harassment and uttering threats; one male was charged with three counts of fail to comply with conditions and unauthorized use of computer; one female was charged with breach of Recognizance and harassment; and one male was charged with assault.

BREAK AND ENTER INCIDENTS

(CHAMPLAIN, ON) – Constable Raoul Doucet of the Hawkesbury OPP is investigating a commercial break and enter incident that occurred on March 17th at approximately 10:30pm at a business situated on County road 17 in Champlain Township.

The investigation revealed that the culprit gained access to the property by forcing open the front gate and drove his vehicle to the back of the building, stealing diesel gas from commercial vehicles. Approximately 1500 litres of fuel was stolen.

The matter is still under investigation.

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – Hawkesbury OPP officers were called to investigate a daytime break in that occurred on March 23rd at a residence situated on Cecile Boulevard in Hawkesbury.

The investigation would suggest that someone entered the residence by breaking in through the side door.

Two laptop computers and some jewelry were stolen.

(CHAMPLAIN, ON) – On March 26th, the Hawkesbury OPP received a report of a break and enter that occurred on a business property situated on County Road 4 in Champlain Township.

Investigation revealed that several RV trailers that were intended for sale were damaged and broken into. The culprits stole 30 lbs propane tanks, televisions, a DVD player and a custom fit electric fireplace.

The matter is still under investigation.

IMPAIRED DRIVER

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – On Tuesday March 22nd, shortly after 4:30pm, Hawkesbury OPP officer Stephanie Fortin-Provost was on patrol when she intercepted a 2010 grey Volkswagen Passat for a traffic light infraction on John and Main Streets in Hawkesbury.

Interaction with the male driver gave the officer reason to believe that he had operated his motor vehicle with blood alcohol content over 80 mgs.

Consequently, the driver, Michel AUDETTE (46 yrs) of Oakville Ontario, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following section:

– 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.

He was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following section:

– 144(18) Red light – fail to stop

The vehicle was seized for 7 days and the driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days.

He was later released and scheduled to appear at court on April 13th, 2016 in L’Orignal.

THEFT OF TRAILER

(HAWKESBURY, ON) –The Hawkesbury OPP needs your help in solving a theft of a dump trailer that occurred on Tuesday evening March 22nd, shortly before 11:30pm.

A black 2010 Sure-Trac dump trailer valued at $12,000 was stolen from a business property on Main Street East in Hawkesbury.
