On September 3rd, Wingham Police were advised by the OPP that a suspect was heading toward Wingham from Teeswater on what was suspected to be a stolen motorcycle. A Wingham officer positioned himself at the north end of Wingham with the intention of stopping the motorcycle however the driver turned around before getting to the police vehicle and sped off northbound at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control near Howick Turnberry Rd and fled on foot into the farmer’s field where he was apprehended by police. Huron County Ambulance and North Huron Fire Department attended to assist with the man’s injuries. He was transported to Wingham Hospital where he was transferred to London as a precaution. He was treated for minor injuries in London and released. Initially injuries were thought to be serious and the Special Investigations Unit was contacted.
Michael Greer, Age 27 of Wingham, is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Weapon while Prohibited and Breach of Probation.
