The Barrie Police Service wishes to remind members of the public not to provide anyone with their personal computer information (i.e. IP addresses) as the Service is presently investigating two separate incidents that occurred on the 9th of October 2013. In each occurrence unknown persons contacted the victims by telephone and requested that they furnish personal information in relation to their computers. As a reult the suspects were able to access files and other information. The victims were also asked to provide a credit card number as payment for service. Once again police are advising the public not to share personal information with any solicitors
