The Guelph Police launched the online police reporting system option (CopLogic) for selected, low priority crimes and property-related incidents on December 4, 2012. This customer
service enhancement is accessible by any internet-ready device, including smart phones.
The CopLogic online reporting system allows the community to file online reports on selected
incident types such as:
Theft under $5000
Mischief to property under $5000(vandalism)
Theft from vehicle under $5000
Mischief to vehicle under $5000
Lost property under $5000
These easy-to-use formatted reports can be filed online at the convenience of the complainant in only a
few minutes, and will securely protect personal information. The selected incidents that can be filed
online do not require that an officer attend, and to date have been reported by phone to a desk officer.
Once the report is transferred into the Guelph Police Service’s records management system, the
information will form part of the ongoing statistical crime analysis program. The web based online crime reporting service will be available through a link on our main website at www.guelphpolice.com.
The Guelph Police online reporting system had gotten off to a slow start averaging approximately twenty reports per month. Over the last two months, numbers have more than doubled and are now in the range closer to what was expected. The Guelph Police would still like to see more calls that fit the online reporting criteria go through this method as many are still being called in and taken over the phone.
