Two men arrested at same location

Just before midnight on January 12th, police went to a Woolwich Street address to initially check on the well-being of a young woman who was believed to be staying there. When police arrived to speak to her and confirmed her well-being, they also spoke with two men who were there as well. One of those men provide a false name to police and further investigation revealed his real identity as a 25 year-old Guelph man who was breaching release conditions he was ordered to follow from a previous criminal charge. He was arrested and charged with obstructing police and breach of recognizance.

It was also learned that the other 23 year-old Guelph man who was there was wanted on outstanding warrant charges for stolen credit cards and stolen property. He was too was arrested.

The two will appear in bail court today.

Violent patron returns and arrested

On January 10, 2017 a staff member at a Gordon Street establishment was unhurt after a male patron became agitated and threw a coffee cup at her. He was directed to leave and not return. Before police arrived and could deal with the incident, the man left. Then on the morning of January 12th, the same man returned, police were called and he was still there when police arrived. The 37 year-old Guelph man of no fixed was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, mischief, fail to comply with recognizance, fail to comply probation and trespassing.

He was held in custody and will appear in bail court today.

Morning traffic stop leads to impaired arrest

At approximately 10am on January 12th, a Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit officer stopped a vehicle on Dawson Road when he noticed some irregularities with its license plate. As he approached the driver to speak with him, he noticed beer cans on the floor of the vehicle. Further investigation lead the officer to arrest the 53 year-old Cambridge man for over .08mgs, having open liquor and driving with no validation on plate.

Andrea Caruso was released and scheduled to appear before the court on February 22, 2017.

On January 12, 2017, the Guelph Police Service responded to 202 calls for service.
