(Otonabee South Monaghan Township, ON) – On Monday, November 11, at approximately 9:16 pm officers from the Peterborough County OPP received a call to attend Wood Duck Drive after the report of a Motor vehicle being driven into Rice Lake.
OPP officers attended Wood Duck Drive, to find that a male, had been travelling south bound on the roadway, when he drove off the end of the roadway at the boat launch. The vehicle a 2013 Toyota, then came to rest in Rice Lake. Witnesses who were nearby swam out and rescued to driver who had exited his vehicle and stayed on the roof as it sank in the water.
The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle and has been identified as 58 year old male from Ajax. No charges are being laid in the incident as it appears to be due to a medical condition.
Now injuries resulted in the collision and the vehicle was removed from Rice Lake on Tuesday November 12.
