Good Samaritans Help Save Life While Waiting For Ambulance

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment is crediting civilians, police and paramedics in saving a man’s life after police responded to an incident at a Main Street, Courtland, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.

On Thursday, January 7, 2016 at approximately 1:24 p.m., Norfolk County OPP and Oxford County Paramedics were dispatched to Cadman Power Supplies after a 911 call was received requesting an ambulance.

Through the course of investigation, it has been determined that a 61-year-old male had been working on the main bay floor area when he collapsed. An outside contractor working on the overhead door and other employees from Cadman Power Supplies immediately attended to the male and began resuscitation efforts.

A Norfolk County OPP officer arrived on scene and continued resuscitation efforts at which time a pulse was regained. Oxford County Paramedics arrived on scene and assisted with stabilizing the male and regaining a viable heart rhythm.

The male was subsequently transported to a local area hospital for further treatment.

“Through the quick thinking actions of bystanders, police and paramedics they were able to save this man’s life. The OPP will be recommending lifesaving awards for everyone involved and we just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank-you to everyone that assisted in this incident,” comments Constable Ed Sanchuk, Norfolk County OPP.
