(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On Wednesday March 21, 2018, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a disturbance at a restaurant on St Andrew Street East, Fergus. It was reported that two males were assaulting an individual. When a witness attempted to stop the attack, the assailants then attacked him. The attackers fled the scene when police were called.
The good-samaritan was sent to local hospital with moderate injuries.
OPP located the two suspects who both resisted arrest.
A 16-year-old and 17-year-old, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, face the charges of:
Assault
Assault Cause Bodily Harm
Resist Peace Officer
One of the accused was held for bail and the other was released under the power of a Promise to Appear with Undertaking and Notice to Parent.
