(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On May 17, 2016 at approximately 10:35 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle that was travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on Hwy. 10 near Grey Rd. 32 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. The cruiser’s radar registered a speed of 131 km/hr in an 80 km/hr zone.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect vehicle, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, was connected to a theft investigation by the Ottawa Police Service on May 15, 2016.
Police recovered a large quantity of stolen razors and skin cream from the vehicle.
The driver, 28-year old Giorgi JANJGAVA, of North York, Ontario was charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000 as well as racing a motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
The passenger, 31-year old Giorgi KUPRASHVILI, of Vaughan, Ontario was charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000.
Both men were arrested and held for a bail hearing scheduled on May 19, 2016. Their next court appearance is scheduled for June 23, 2016 in Owen Sound.
