(PUSLINCH TOWNSHIP, ON) – On January 24, 2015 at approximately 10:04 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Wellington Road 35 near Concession 4 in Puslinch Township.
Officers investigated the driver of a 1998 Ford that entered into the check point and immediately detected the strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing. Alcohol was also located in the vehicle that was readily available to the driver.
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days as per statute.
Gerald TILLEY age 48 of Alma has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Drive Motor Vehicle With Liquor Readily Available contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on February 13, 2015 to answer to the charges.
