Gas Station Armed Robbery – Two Charged

(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has charged a man and a woman after Patrol officers arrested two suspects following an early morning robbery of a gas bar attendant on Montreal Road today.

At approximately 1:05am, a lone male suspect entered a gas bar kiosk situated along the 500 block of Montreal Road. The suspect produced a handgun and made a demand for cash. The clerk refused to comply and the suspect fled the premises empty handed to a waiting vehicle with a female driver. The victim was able to note the description of the vehicle and provide it to Police.

The vehicle was located by Patrol officers a short time later. A high risk vehicle stop was initiated and the two suspects were arrested without incident. There were no injuries.

Muhammad AZIZ, 24 years old, and Amina ASHRAF (f), 19 years old, both of Ottawa, are charged jointly with:

Attempt to commit an indictable offence
Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
Mr. Aziz is additionally charged with:

Pointing a firearm
Use of a firearm in the commission of an offence
Wearing a disguise
Both are scheduled to appear in court on January 20, 2015.
