Gary WIERTS – 137 in an 80

(MAPLETON TOWSHIP, ON) – On November 11, 2014 at approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) were conducting mobile radar and monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 11 near Concession 12 in Mapleton Township.

At this time and location police observed a west bound motor vehicle travelling at a speed well above the posted speed limit. The 1971 Ford Mustang was clocked on radar at 137 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

The driver’s licence was suspended and vehicle seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.

Gary WIERTS age 57 of Mapleton Township has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on December 17, 2015 to answer to the charge.
