(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating several thefts of fuel in the Dutton/Dunwich area that occurred in the overnight hours of August 17th and 18th, 2015.
The first theft occurred on a farm property on Silver Clay Line, east of Coyne Road, Dutton/Dunwich. Three unlocked barns were entered; however nothing was taken except for approximately 1000 L of diesel fuel that was removed from an outside fuel tank.
In the second theft, which occurred on Thompson Line, just west of Coyne Rd. Dutton/Dunwich, suspects entered onto the property and stole approximately 500 L of regular fuel and approximately 1500 L of diesel fuel.
In both cases the suspect(s) drove through bean fields causing extensive damage to gain access to the properties. The suspect vehicle appears to be a dual wheel pickup that would have to have two separate tanks for the fuel, one for diesel and one for regular fuel. It is unknown whether the tanks would be in plain view or covered in some sort of way.
If you or someone you know has information regarding these thefts you are asked to contact the Elgin County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 519-631-2920 and you may also contact your nearest police authority.
