(CALEDON, ON) – On Thursday, October 31, 2013 shortly before 9:30 pm, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was travelling northbound on Innis Lake Road. The officer was travelling behind a white Ford pick-up when he observed the vehicle drift to the right of the lane and hit the gravel. In doing so, the officer observed as the driver over-corrected his action by crossing the entire northbound lane. The officer activated his emergency equipment to check on the driver’s sobriety. Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer immediately detected that he was under the influence of alcohol. As a result, the male was arrested for Impaired Driving and transported for testing at Detachment.
Once the investigation was concluded, Frederick B. Hayes, 56, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 mgs.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on November 20, 2013.
