Fraud

Yesterday afternoon a 32 year old Chatham male attended a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham. The male was observed selecting merchandise from the store and attempting to return it without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise. Community patrol officers attended the business, arrested and charged the accused with one (1) count of Fraud under $5000.00. Further investigation revealed the accused was currently bound by conditions of a recognizance and was found to be breaching two conditions of said recognizance. As a result the male was also charged with two (2) counts of Breach of Recognizance. He has been held in police custody pending a bail hearing.
