(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On November 5, 2015, members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting radar patrol on Highway 400 in Seguin Township. At approximately 11:07 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a southbound car that was observed travelling at a high rate of speed. Police investigation and a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of cannabis marihuana.
The driver, Francis ANTOINE, 32 years of age from Sudbury, was arrested and charged with:
Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
· Driving while under suspension contrary to the HTA.
The driver was served a summons requiring him to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on December 1, 2015 to answer to the charge. The vehicle he was operating was towed and impounded for seven days.
The passenger, Shandelle CUSHING, 18 years of age from French River, was arrested and charged with:
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams as per the CDSA.
Fail to comply with Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).
The accused was held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound.
