(Chatham-Kent, ON) The Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged four motorists this weekend, after they were caught travelling 50 or more Kilometres over the speed limit.
On Friday the 13th, before midnight, two separate vehicles were clocked on the 401 Highway by police radar at a speed of 164 km/hr and 159 km near the Tilbury Service Centre. On Saturday the 14th, in the early evening, two separate vehicles were clocked by police radar on the 401 Highway, at 170km/hr and 152 km/hr near Kent Bridge Road.
The following drivers have been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Perform Stunt- Speeding by 50 or more Kilometres under the Highway Traffic Act.
Fnu TAJESHWAR, male, 24 year of age, Sacremento, California.
Hamda MOHAMED, female, 29 years of age, North York, Ontario.
Darylann MARTIN, male, 58 years of age, Buffalo, New York.
Shankeka WILLIAMS-COORE, Female, 18 years of age, Ajax, Ontario.
The vehicles they were driving have been impounded for the prescribed 7-day period and their driver’s licences suspended for 7 days.
Drivers who engage in high risk driving behavior put everyone at risk. Speeding makes it more difficult for drivers to react to changes, stop suddenly and control a vehicle. In the case of a collision, the higher the speed the more severe the collision and the more likely that serious injuries or death will occur.
