Four Impaired Drivers Over Weekend

(ESSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Saturday the 29th of November 2014, at 12:41 p.m. a concerned motorist dialled ‘911’ to report an erratic, possible impaired driver on County Road 27 just south of Thornton. Officers from the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were able to located the beige minivan and investigate the driver.

The driver, 53-year old male, John BALDWIN of Essa Township was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Fail to provide breath sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to attend court on the 18th of December 2014 in answer to the charges.

(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – On Sunday the 30th of November 2014, at 12:03 a.m. a concerned citizen called police to report a possible impaired driver in a plaza parking lot on Young Street in Alliston. Officers from the Nottawasaga OPP responded, and located the driver and motor vehicle. Through investigation it was determined that his ability to have care and control of the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver, 50-year old male Jed GEDDES of Adjala-Tosorontio Township was charged for Care and Control of a motor vehicle while ability impaired, and Care and Control of a motor vehicle with over 80mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to attend court on the 8th of January 2015 in answer to the charges.

(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – On Sunday the 30th of November 2014, at 11:12 p.m. an officer with the Nottawasaga OPP was on general patrol and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Queen Street South in Tottenham. The officer investigated the driver, and it was determined that he was impaired by alcohol. The driver, 44-year old male Cory WILYMAN of Toronto was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Fail to provide breath sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to attend court on the 8th of January 2015 in answer to the charges.

(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – On Sunday the 30th of November 2014 at 3:20 a.m. an officer with the Nottawasaga OPP was on general patrol and conducted a motor vehicle stop on County Road 10 near Highway 89 in the Town of New Tecumseth. The officer investigated the driver, and it was determined that he was impaired by alcohol. The driver, 28-year old male Ian SAYEWELL is charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is schedule to attend court on the 8th of January 2015.

The Nottawasaga OPP officers are in full force during the Festive RIDE campaign running from the 23rd of November 2014 until the 2nd of January 2015. Officers wish to remind drivers that any amount of alcohol can impair one’s ability to drive and that the OPP can issue an immediate roadside driver’s licence suspension to drivers who register a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) in the “Warn Range” of .05 to .08.
