Four Charged With Distracted Driving After Taking Photos Of Accident Scene

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) -Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle at approximately 4:00 p.m. that closed Highway 401 eastbound at Oxford Road 29 on October 21, 2014.

As a result of investigation, the 71 year old driver, Thomas PETERS of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving.

While responding and assisting at this collision scene involving the bus and school age children OPP members laid four additional charges to passerby’s. Individuals driving by using handheld devices to photograph the scene while driving were charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Drive Motor Vehicle with hand held communication device.

The investigation is complete.
