In October 2015, the National Child Exploitation Co-ordination Center (NCECC) Ottawa initiated an investigation into a user of a social network as part of an ongoing international investigation. The user communicated with an undercover police officer and provided links to child pornography. Waterloo Regional Police Service – Internet Child Exploitation Unit investigated the shared links and determined the location of the offences. A search warrant was obtained and executed on April 26, 2016 at a residence in Cambridge by members of the WRPS ICE UNIT and the Technological Crimes Unit. Robert George CHISLETTE (67 years), was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Accessing Child Pornography and 2 counts of Making Available Child Pornography.
CHISLETTE coached hockey for 30 years in the Waterloo Region and his coaching was primarily focused on children around the age of 12 years old. The accused, Robert CHISLETTE was held for a show cause hearing on April 27, 2016 and was released. Police are not aware of any additional offences related to the accused at this time.
