(Prescott, ON ) On February 24, 2017, at approximately 7am, officers from the Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended highway 401, east bound, near Prescott. At this location, a tractor trailer lost dual wheels off the tractor. As a result, 5 east bound vehicles struck the wheels, as they vacated the tractor. The five vehicles received significant damage, but there were no injuries. The tanker trailer was loaded with 30 thousand kilograms of flammable liquid. The liquid did not escape the tanker trailer and there are no environmental concerns.
The investigation is in progress and the highway is open for traffic.
The male driver is from Port Colborne and changes are pending.
