(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – On April 17, 2016, at approximately 7:58 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a structure fire.
The structure was a commercial building in the 100 block of Parkhill King Street.
The North Middlesex Fire Department responded to the scene, and were assisted by the Strathroy Caradoc Fire Department, who attended with an aerial truck.
Shortly after Middlesex County OPP officers arrived on scene, they observed a secondary fire, to which the Thedford Fire Department responded. The fire was located in a dumpster on Parkhill King Street, west of the structure fire.
The Middlesex County OPP assisted with traffic control, and are securing both scenes for the Office of the Fire Marshall (OFM), which has been called in to investigate.
At this time the damage estimate is undetermined, however, the building is expected to be a total loss.
There were no injuries reported as a result of these fires. Fire crews had to be pulled for their safety, due to issues with the building’s structural integrity. As a result, the North Middlesex Fire Department remains on scene to continue to extinguish hot spots.
Roads in the area remain closed.
This investigation is still in its early stages. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
