On April 28, 2014 at 10:09 p.m., the Guelph Fire Department (GFD) was sent to a William Street apartment for the report of smoke in the building. GFD evacuated the building and the Guelph Police attended to assist the investigation. It was determined that there was a small fire on one of the balcony’s that caused minor damage. The cause of the fire was identified as being a cigarette that was not properly extinguished. No one was injured and no foul play is suspected.
