Fire In Plattsville – Home Evacuated

(BLANDFORD- BLENHEIM TOWNSHIP, ON.)- Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fire at 65 Albert Street West in Plattsville.

At approximately 6:37 a.m. OPP members responded along with Plattsville fire department and Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to assist at the scene.

The building at this address is a vacant 2 storey business with an apartment on the second storey.

The occupant of the apartment was evacuated safely.

As a result of the fire, Albert Street between York Street and Douro Street is closed. Due to smoke and wind approximately 30 homes have been evacuated.

It is expected that the road will remain closed for an extended period of time to extinguish the fire and to continue with the investigation.

There were no injuries and all persons have been accounted for.

The Plattsville fire department is continuing to work to extinguish the fire.

The investigation is ongoing and further information will be provided as it becomes available.
