(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) Investigation in to the crash at the intersection of Perth Road 113 (Embro Road) and Perth Line 26 has determined that a north bound Toyota Corolla on Perth Road 113, crossed directly in front of a Chevy Cruise which was travelling east bound on Perth Line 26. (The intersection has a flashing warning light and is controlled by stop signs for traffic on Perth Road 113 with Perth Line 26 being the through highway).
As a result of the collision the driver of the Toyota Corolla, Ralph Fildes (78) of Ottawa was rushed to Stratford General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The female passenger of this vehicle was transported to Stratford General Hospital for treatment. She has been transported to London Health Sciences with non life threatening injuries.
The two occupants of the east bound Chevy Cruise both from Exeter are continuing to receive treatment for their minor injuries at Stratford General Hospital.
The intersection will remain closed until well after 7 p.m. to allow for the safe removal of the two wreckages and assist the Western Region OPP Technical Traffic Investigation Unit as they continue to investigate this crash.
