Fight At Campground Leads To Impaired Charge

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On July 25, 2020 at 9:32 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a group of males that were arguing and fighting with each other at a campground on Cape Heard Road in Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Officers attended this location and stopped a brown sport utility vehicle (suv) that was exiting this camp ground, as staff advised that this vehicle was involved in the dispute. Officers spoke to the male driver and formed grounds that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and he was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton. A breath test, conducted by a qualified Intoxilyzer operator at the detachment, recorded readings over the legal limit of 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Kelly ROBBINS, 27 years-of-age, from West Grey, ON with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CC.

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is required to attend Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 1, 2020.
