Fatal Motorcycle Collision

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On April 19, 2016, at approximately 1:34 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Catherine Street.

A red Kawasaki motorcycle was travelling westbound on Catherine Street, and collided with an orange Jeep sport utility vehicle (SUV) travelling eastbound on Catherine Street.

The driver, and lone occupant of the Jeep, a 45-year-old female from Thames Centre, Ontario, was transported by ambulance to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and subsequently discharged.

The driver, and lone occupant of the motorcycle, a 30-year-old male, Paul D’ANDREA, from Thames Centre, Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collison Investigators (TTCI) have determined that the sequence of events leading to the collision was caused by a combination of speed and driver error.

No charges will be laid in this incident.
