(Ottawa, ON) – A single vehicle rollover occurred in the west bound lanes of Highway 417 at Rockdale Road this morning at approximately 2:00 am. A 2004 silver Lexus SUV being operated by a female left the roadway. The 54-year-old female driver was transported by paramedics to the Ottawa Hospital General campus where she was treated for minor injuries. Her 23-year-old son who was a passenger in the vehicle was also transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased is not being released as this time.
The west bound lanes of Highway 417 were closed between Rockdale Road and Boundary Rd from 2:00 am to 8:45 am while OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators completed their examination of the scene.
Speed, alcohol, seat belt usage, and distracted driving are not considered factors in this collision.
